  1. The Native American Dream, said by Osawa is “the well being of the tribe, and "You have something that you look at that's greater than yourself." I think that it makes sense, seeing the well-being of your family/ culture seems greater than just your personal goals for yourself and no one else at times. The “indigenous Dream” is different from my version of the American Dream because in my version, you can accomplish the American dream anywhere, while the indigenous dream must be at a certain place. Charlies dream is to have people laugh with Native Americans, not at them.

  2. The "indigenous dream" is ment to happen at a certain place rather then it happening of your choice. The indigenous dream is differnent from my dream because to me the American dream can happen or take place anywere. The Native American dream said by Osawa "you have somthing that you look at that's greater then yourself". This means that instead of thinking about youself think about others and their dreamif there connected to you. In Charlie Hill's American dream is to be with his community because he wants people to laugh with them not at them.Just because there life style is different from us there humans and they deserve to live in peace, freedom and have liberty.

  3. The Native American Dream is way different from the American dream. Like Osawa said, "individual pursuits, but rather to the well-being of the tribe." Also how you have something that you look at that's greater than yourself. I believe she is trying to say that the Native American Dream is something you look past your personal goals, but into your own family life or culture. The indigenous dream is different from my version because in my version I can accomplish mines anywhere I set my goals at. The indigenous dream is set to be in on place only.

  4. the native American dream is way different then is more like being in tuned with yourself and being free rather than the American dream. The Indigenous Dream is like it has to be done in a certain pacific place the American dream is more like you can do anything be anything you want and do it any were because its your dream. Charlie hills American dream is to stay in winsconsin with his people which he has already accomplish

  5. From my perspective, I don't think that the "American dream" or the "Native American dream" differ from each other in Hill's case. I still think it's based on the person and what their dream is.The difference I see between them is that the Native American dream is meant to include your tribe, your community, your family. While the American dream is more about yourself, which is what Osawa says to be "Individual pursuits". In Charlie's dream, it seems like he's combined both the American dream and the Native American dream by becoming a comedian. He was able to achieve his personal wish along with keeping his tribe and family within it.

  6. I agree with Molly, the "American Dream" and the "Native American Dream" truly do not differ so much because the "American Dream" can also be about your family too. Immigrants often come to America just for their families. The "Indigenous Dream" differs from my "American Dream" in the sense that I don't want to fulfill my dream in one set place, I would like to travel and try different things that all lead up to my big dream.

  7. I think that the Native American dream is better than the American dream because it isn’t as selfish. The American dream revolves around the person who’s thinking about the dream. The person thinking about their American dream doesn’t take their family and community into consideration; instead many choose success and fortune over their family when dreaming up an American dream. The Indigenous dream is different from my interpretation of the American dream in the sense that when I think of my American dream I think about me and my goals in life. I fail to think about the people around me and how I want to affect them in life. When I think about the indigenous dream I think about the person thinking about their “indigenous” dream thinking about their loved ones and their community. The role of the Native American Community in Charlie Hill’s dream is that he wants to get people to not laugh at the Native American community but to laugh with them instead.

  8. I agree with Molly and Gabriella about the "Native American Dream" and the "American Dream" not being too different from each other. To me I see both Dreams pretty similar, except majority of the time the American Dream is mainly about your personal wants and dreams in life, meanwhile the Native American Dream is what your tribes wants, needs and dreams are.

  9. The Native American Dream is a great idea mainly because it stops or reduces the mockery and discrimination of Native Americans and like charlie says it changes the idea of been laughed at to been laughed with. I belief that the American Dream is the opportunity or desire to achieve your aim and goals. If the indigenous dream is charlie achieving his aim then there is no difference between my version of the American Dream and the Indigenous Dream. Furthermore, The Native American Dream Community played a big part in charlie's dream, they encouraged, supported, and help him build his dream. His Indigenous dreams.
I think that, whether its the native american dream or the indigenous dreams as long as it involves you pursuing your aims or goal in the United States Of America... Its the American Dream.

  10. The Native American Dream according to Charlie Hill is being able to become anything you want. And the meaning of The Native American Dream according to Osawa is that it's not tied to "individual pursuits" but rather to the well-being of the tribe. I think The Native American Dream is awesome just because it could be whatever you want it to be. My version of The American Dream is different from The Native American Dream because in The American Dream all people look for is wealth and a better life but that is not always the case. The role the Native American Community played in Charlie Hill's Dream was supporters. They have been very good to him and he often shows up at Native American conventions and political events.

  11. Charlie Hill is a Native American from the Oneida tribe and is living in a reserve in Wisconsin. He is talking about the American dream and compares it to the Indigidouse dream (Native American dream). He says he is indeed living the American dream because he loves what he is doing, but could not have made it with out other comedian friends. He is living the life of a comedian and is proud. He also says that the American dream is different from the Native American dream because the American dream is pursuing what you want and only making yourself proud while the Native American dream is making your family proud and happy and carrying about your tribe. I think that he is incorrect as well as correct, because in my opinion the American dream does consist of pursuing your dreams while also raising your family so I can relate to both. His role in the Native American community is a "hero." Even though he is not famous, he is considered a hero to the Native American people because he is representing and still carrying on their traditions and beliefs.

  12. The Native American dream is based on unity and devotion. Just like Lola said the way that charley puts the Native American dream takes away the discrimination that the American dream comes with. My version of the American dream is similar because I believe that even though America is not perfect, America has this unity because people come from all over the world and unite. In a way Charley wants respect for his community. I think Charley feels that thru out the years the natives have been taken as a joke.

  13. When I see the words "native american dream" i think about family. Not just as blood family but a family within their community.Just like Charlie Hills wife said "There's a strong connection to your tribal community, to your family life", family is as important as anything else. While the american dream is more about being able to do the things you love, the Indigenous Dream is more about being able to be with the people you love.

  14. I agree with Luz the Native American dream is not as selfish as the American Dream. The American Dream is what you want to do with your life and the Native American dream is so they wont be made fun of as much. The Indigenous dream is different from my version of the American dream because its meant to be accomplished in one certain place.

  15. I think that the native american dream much like their land is theirs to have. I still feel no matter what dream it is it is only a dream. Some people think they are doing fine and they feel they are living the dream. He simply wants to rid people of the discrimination against native americans. He does this by telling jokes and making people laugh. He has great respect and rightfully deserves so to find such a positive way to deal with such a negative history.

  16. I think that the Native American dream may be more related to breaking away from the stereotypes to find something they think is greater. Like Charlie Hill wanted to be a comedian, but realized the negative connotation that comes with just being Native American. But he turned it around to material for comedy. I don't think the 'Indigenous dream' is different from my 'American Dream'. I want to do something meaningful and that amazes me and be surrounded by my family. That's not too different. The role of the Native American community's role is too keep supporting Charlie, so that he can reach his dream and so can they.

  18. my opinion based on the Native American Dream is where anyone not just American Citizens but as well as immigrants have the right to achieve an goals or dreams they have. I HAVE A DREAM AND THAT DREAM IS THAT I WILL BE A VET OR ANIMAL COP BUT ALSO WHERE IMMIGRANTS WONT BE JUDGED OR SENT BACK TO THERE HOME LAND BASED ON IF THEY WHERE BORN HE OR NOT I BELIEVE NOONE OWNS THIS WORLD SO WE SHOULD BE ALL GIVEN THE SAME RIGHTS AND IF THEY COME HERE IS FOR A BETTER LIFE AND TO ACHIEVE GOALS OR DREAMS!

  19. The Native American dream is basically to be what you want to be and I think mainly to not fall into stereotypes which down people on their future. The "indigneous dream" is different from mine because my version of the american dream can be achieved , but the indigenous dream can't. The role of the native american dream in Hill's story is achieve your goal and succeed keep on.

  20. The Native American dream also whatever you want it to be but less selfish than the American dream. Native American are big on family and tribes but the American dream is all about what you want. In charlie Hill's dream the Native American its coming together and not being judged by their race.

  21. In my opinion the "Native American dream" is way better than the "American Dream". According too Osawa a native American from the Oneida tribe, perspective of the "Native American dream" is not tied to "individual pursuits" . Meaning your able to become anything you want without being laughed at, so you feel more supported . The "American dream" is different because many people see it as a opportunity to become wealthy and have a better life.

  22. The Native American Dream is different from others yet also the same. The Native American Dream is to,as a whole, change the ideals of Native Americans and just live life. The 'Indigenous Dream" of coming her to American and everything being better in a snap is different from my "American Dream". My "American Dream" is just to live life happily as I grow up.The Native American Community played a big part in Charlie Hill's Dream. He said it himself if other Native American star didn't help him he wouldn't be where he is today. They helped him get reconsidered.

  23. i think that charlie hills american dream is very entertaining because if he believes that he can be a comedian then he can make it come true my american dream is different from his because i believe that i can be more than what i want to be instead of making people laugh

  24. The Native American Dream Is The Change Of Ideas And Just Live Your Life ...The Indigenous Dream Is Different From The American Dream Because They Think If They Come To America Everything Will Be Okay And They Will Have A Better Life..However The Indigenous Dream Is Like They Just There Living Life Just Because. The Native American Dream Plays A Big Role In Charlie Hills Dream Because If No One Did Not Help Him To Get To Where He Wanted To Be He Would not Be Here Today.

  26. The Native American dream can differ from other dreams, just like how the "American Dream" works. The Native American Dream is just the dream of Native Americans wanting to continue to praise their culture happily. Maybe even to change everyone else's perspective on them as a whole. I believe the 'Indegineous Dream' is similar to mine in a way, because in all, its the same as being able to achieve whatever you want if you work hard enough for it; or, be free. I believe the role of the Native American community in Charlie Hill's life plays a big one. He wants everyone to laugh with them, and not at them. And he believes he's glad to have such a dream, because he thinks he wouldn't be where he is now if it weren't for some of his own Native American fellows.

  28. As I said in class I think that American dream is just a dream so that relates to this because that proves no matter what it's called weather the American dream or the Indigenous Dream it's is when you accomplish a life goal and are happy with yourself

  29. In my opinion the native american dream is their culture because if it wasnt for their culture they wouldnt be as strong of a family as they are now.The role of the native american dream in my opinion is doing good in school and find a career doing rodeo.

  30. i think they try not to do depend on america and try not start problems by fighting for more resources, they depend on themselves to get more income and prepare their families with the native american way.

  31. I think the american dream is part of us and makes us who we are and the same for the native americans also.

  32. The native american dream in my perspective is very different from other dreams. Because the Native American dream is to live here in american and still have there beliefs and culture very much alive. The "indegineous dream" is very similar to alot of people which is to prosper for your goals and you can actually reach them. Charlie Hill is a very successful mad in my eyes because he wanted people to laugh with them not at them. He thought that he wouldnt be where he is now if it wasnt for some of his fellow natives .

  33. The way i see the American Dream is that anybody can achieve their dreams/goals. I think the Native American is Charlie's American dream because the Indigenous Dream is his goal, its his dream. He wants all the discrimination against Native Americans to stop. Instead of people laughing at them, he wants them to laugh with them. That's his dream. For all the discrimination to cease. That Chariles American Dream. He just calls it differently.

  34. The American Dream to me is different for every person because not everyone goes through the same difficulties as others, and not everyone may want to accomplish the same things in life. I think that Charlie Hill's American Dream perspective is that you can turn anything negative into a positive, and he did just that because he made comedy out of the stereotypes that people tend to make about Native Americans.

    ReplyDelete
  35. To me, the American dream is when anyone can accomplish their dreams or goals. I think the native American is charlies American dream because the dream is his own goal and he plans on achieving it, he wants all the racism to stop.

  36. to me the american dream can be anything about life and what yu make it to be in life ...wen you accomplish goals yu can consider it american dreams because of what life gives yu ..

  37. I agree with Molly, to me the Native American dream and The American dream aren't so different. I like how Molly says that it depends on the person and their dreams, because I believe it also. The Indigenous Dream is different from my dream because I don't want to be stuck in one place.

  39. The Native American dream and the American dream has a lot of similarities. They both dream about preserving cultures and heritages. You can dream about whatever you want to dream about it is your dream and it is your job to try to make those dreams come true.

  40. He is probably talking about how America was suppose to support them but they are not doing that. They think that America has lied to them.

  41. the native american dream is very similar to the american dream but one is just harder to get. life as a native american is hard so getting through with your dreams will be harder too. but a dream is really whatever you make it so you just have to work towards it and make it happen.
